The Centres of Excellence for Technology and Industrial Collaboration provide a world-class scientific, technical and research resource from universities in Wales for the benefit of local, national and international companies, including organisations that are seeking to invest in Wales.
The long-established Wolfson Centre for Magnetics is renowned for its research and development service for industry. It is located within purpose designed laboratories within Cardiff University’s School of Engineering and its outstanding international reputation for research has been recognised by several recent awards to develop its facilities and staff. The Centre provides unique research, development, information services, education and training related to the production, evaluation and application of magnetic materials of commercial importance.
Aims
The Centre’s main aim is to provide and develop world-class scientific, technical and research resources in magnetics and related technology. In addition, it intends to broaden and strengthen its already well-proven service to industry.
Expertise
The Centre’s key staff have extensive technical expertise related to magnetics technology and experience of working in or with industry.
Magnetics-based projects often cover a wide range of disciplines and the Centre offers a truly interdisciplinary approach. Some of the areas technical expertise are listed below.
