The President's Scholarship scheme is a prestigious initiative for Cardiff University. The School of Engineering is seeking applications from outstanding candidates for PhD projects under the theme of Engineering Infrastructure for 2020.
All projects are supported by industrial partners and President's scholars will spend time on a placement with the partner companies. Successful candidates will also be expected to contribute to seminar series, workshops and conferences designed to bring together the scholars, their supervisors and industrial partners to address the Engineering Infrastructure challenges for 2020 and beyond.
Studentships supported by this scheme will cover tuition fees at the Home/EU fee rate and will provide a stipend at UK Research Council level (£13,590 (tax free) in 2011/12), plus an enhancement of at least £1000 per annum
Applicants should have a 1st class honours degree in a relevant subject, or a distinction at Masters level, and be able to demonstrate an aptitude for research. The awards are open to Home, EU or Overseas applicants (please note that overseas candidates will be required to fund the balance of fees at the overseas fee rate themselves). Applicants whose first language is not English should be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent).
