Our vision is to establish a truly interdisciplinary systems-based research culture which encompasses the physical and social sciences.
By stretching the boundaries of traditional energy research in this way, it will enable us to contribute significantly in addressing future energy challenges.
Our vision for the Energy Systems Research Institute is to:
- provide solutions to the often competing challenges of mitigating climate change and enabling security of energy supply, yet while maintaining societal acceptability
- be an international leader in the emerging interdisciplinary field of energy systems research by bringing together leading scholars and researcher groups from across a broad range of academic disciplines
- increase and build on our industrial and policy collaboration and partnerships - a key component of our Research Institute as they shape, inform and advise on our strategy
- provide a new scientific meeting place to help improve understanding of the complex interdependencies across a broad range of disciplines leading to improved designs, planning and decision making.
