Year One
In the first year of the BA degree at Cardiff students take the equivalent of three subjects. Each subject is worth 40 credits, and the year as a whole is worth 120 credits.
The subjects are arranged in a timetable (below) with all subjects in group A, for example, being taught at the same time. Students can therefore take only one subject from a group.
We strongly advise all Year One students to take at least two module subjects from the School. The Year One subjects taught by the School are in BOLD CAPITALS.
Students reading the degrees in English Language or English Language and Communication must take both the Year One 'Language' subject in Group D and the 'Communication' subject in Group C.
Single Honours English Literature students take 'English Literature I' and either 'English Literature II' or 'Medieval and Renaissance Literature', or both.
