PhD Research

A critical discourse analysis of Assisted Voluntary Return programmes (working title)

Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programmes offer a return service for asylum seekers returning to their country of origin. These programmes are funded by the British government and the EU and comprise a resettlement package with can include travel expenses, a cash grant and support to start a business upon return. My research combines an examination of AVR promotional literature with ethnographic fieldwork at the institutions administering the programmes.
