High-performance Computing (HPC)

The School has access to (and dedicated in-house HPC support for) various high-performance computing centres within the University, including:

• Advanced Research Computing @ Cardiff (ARCCA) – with its 2048 core computing cluster 'Merlin' (currently being upgraded)
• Helix Wall – a 3D stereo visualisation facility, featuring a 3.5m by 3.5m screen
• and for appropriate projects, HPC Wales – a distributed HPC system with over 16,000 cores, largest single system at Cardiff (6144 cores).
