The President’s Research Scholarships are “flagship” Cardiff awards which carry the prestige of association with the University’s new President, the Nobel Prize for Medicine (2007) winner, Professor Sir Martin Evans. Click on the link above to learn more.
Research Council Studentships, generally the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), but also the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) or the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) are awarded on a competitive basis and may relate to specific approved research topics.
Consult the list of available projects published by the School. Applications are invited for one or more of the topics.
A limited number of bursaries are offered annually by Cardiff on a competitive basis. These cover all disciplines. An early spring application is essential, and this should indicate the area of research in which you are interested. Short-listed candidates will be interviewed. Final selection will be based on overall research potential as well as suitability for the specific research topic applied for.
School assistance may be available and offer research opportunities both within the wide range of topics offered by the staff or within specific areas of interest. Financial support is comparable with that of NERC/ESRC and carries the requirement to undertake a limited amount (not more than six hours per week) of classroom/laboratory/field demonstrating.
