Applied Environmental Geoscience

Pete in the ArcticResearch focuses on environmental processes, environmental change and environmental protection on land and in the near-shore marine and coastal environments. Our remit includes fundamental research and applied studies, and we maintain close links with industry. Research areas in the terrestrial environment include; geomorphological process studies in mountain and arctic environments; the assessment of atmospheric, soil and groundwater pollution; hydrogeological modelling of contaminant migration; environmental applications of high resolution geophysics; and in the marine and coastal environments; applications of marine information, including mapping, charting and sea surveying; environmental management of marine resources; and integrated coastal and sea management. Funding is through Research Councils (NERC and EPSRC), European Union and related research agencies, Industry, government agencies and local authorities.
