Dr Henrik Sass

Henrik joined the School in June 2004. He worked in the fields of limnology, ecology, biogeochemistry and microbial physiology with special emphasis on anaerobic microorganisms. His current research projects are mainly dealing with the “deep biosphere” that can be found down to several hundred meters beneath the sea floor, and how the bacteria survive and grow under these extreme conditions. Other research interests are the microbial interaction with the biogeochemical cycles of manganese, iron, nitrogen and sulfur.
