Mineralised Tissue Biology in Repair and Regeneration of the Dental Tissues
Research Interests
My research interests encompass a series of studies which aim to advance our knowledge and understanding of oral mineralised tissues in health, disease and repair. These have concentrated on the cellular biology of bone and dentine and gaining an understanding of the synthesis, extracellular interactions and subsequent fate of matrix proteins of these tissues in health and disease. These studies have been applied and translational in design to underpin research which will improve diagnosis, management and treatment in clinical dentistry.
- Osseointegration around titanium implants and diabetic bone healing
- Role of the extracellular matrix in stem cell biology and mineralised tissue repair
- Pathogenic mechanisms of tissue destruction during periodontal disease and gingival crevicular fluid components as biomarkers of periodontal destruction
