Entry requirements for Uzbekistan

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we want to ensure the welfare of our staff and students. Our staff won't be able to attend international exhibitions or events at this time but you can still get in touch.

International students in the park

Both the University and Cardiff city are popular study locations for students from Uzbekistan.

Popular courses include Business, Social Science, Law and Foundation Programmes.

We are very happy to welcome students from Uzbekistan.

Exhibitions and visits

Representatives from the University regularly attend events throughout the year, both in-person and virtual. To view opportunities to talk to us in you can browse our upcoming global events.

If you have any questions regarding our visits, please contact us.

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements will vary depending on your level of study, the course you are interested in, and your English language proficiency.

Foundation courses

If you have graduated from the national high school system, you may be required to successfully complete an International Foundation Year before entering our undergraduate courses.

Undergraduate courses

You will be required to have a high school certificate with grades of at least 4.0/5.0 in addition to a recognised one-year foundation programme.

Some Schools will consider successful completion of at least one year of a relevant four-year honour's degree programme (with good grades in key subject areas) at a recognised institution.

We also accept a wide range of UK and international qualifications such as A-levels and the International Baccalaureate.

Postgraduate taught courses

You will be required to have a relevant four-year bachelor's degree from a recognised institution, with grades of approximately 80% or above to qualify for our postgraduate taught courses.

We require bachelor's degrees with CGPA grades of at least 4.0 out of 5.0.

Postgraduate research courses

You will need a relevant four-year bachelor's degree from a recognised institution, with grades of approximately 80% or above and possibly also a relevant master's programme from a recognised institution.

English language

You will need to have a relevant English language qualification to satisfy the English language requirements for your course. The minimum admissions requirement is usually IELTS 6.5 but for some courses we may ask for higher grades.

You can improve your level of English language to meet the entry requirements for your course through our in-house English for University Study programme, a full-time course for international students planning to study at a UK university. The minimum entry requirement is IELTS 4.0 for September entry, 4.5 for January and 5.0 for April. The Exit Test results from this course are accepted as IELTS equivalents for entry to all degree courses at Cardiff University.

We also offer summer pre-sessional courses for applicants with academic offers that are conditional on improving their level of English language proficiency.

If you are unsure of your qualifications or entry requirements, please contact us.
