Gained a degree in electronics followed by a masters in electromagnetic engineering and a PhD in magnetics.  More than 10 years of postdoctoral research experience in magnetics including 2.5 years in industry with Cogent Power.

Has successfully led several high profile projects funded by government and private industry together with many industrial consultancies.

Presented invited lectures to international conferences and multi-national companies in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Croatia, Greece and Japan.

Dr Philip Anderson is a Reader in Electromagnetic Engineering and expert in development, application and characterisation of soft magnetic materials and their applications.  He previously worked as a Teaching Company Associate at European Electrical Steels (1996-1998) and later Research Scientist (1998-1999) whilst studying for a PhD which was awarded by Cardiff University in 2000. PA subsequently became a PDRA (2000-2002) and later Technical Manager (2003-2011) at the Wolfson Centre for Magnetics Technology, Cardiff University. He was appointed as Lecturer in the School of Engineering in 2012, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2014 before promotion to Reader in 2020.
