Honorary Senior Research Fellow
Andrew is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS), a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA). He also holds a DipEM from Oxford Brookes University and an MPhil from Cardiff University. He is an urban regeneration practitioner with a total of 40 years of experience in the public, private, voluntary/third sectors, and within academia.
Following various property development and regeneration assignments within English towns and cities from 1976 to 1991 (including Bristol Harbourside), he moved to undertake regeneration work within Wales. Since then, he has been the Project Director for regeneration initiatives in the Cynon Valley and in Barry, and from 2006 to 2010 as the Director of Regeneration at the Newport Urban Regeneration Company, and until his retirement in June 2015 as the Deputy Chief Executive of the Centre Regeneration Excellence Wales, where he was on secondment as a Civil Servant from Welsh Government.
He has also taught regeneration at the Cardiff University School of Geography and Planning for the last 10 years, where he is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow. He is a Committee Member of the Bath based Stonechester Housing Association, a Committee Member of the London based Urban Design Group (UDG),and a Member of the RICS Wales Management Board. He has also previously held Board positions with the Canal and River Trust for Wales, and the Welsh Valleys based Cynon Taff Community Housing Association over a 20 year period.
