£250,000 Undergraduate Hub revealed

6 Hydref 2017

UG Hub opening ceremony

Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean and Head of School, has today launched the new purpose-designed facility for the Undergraduate Hub and Student Support teams.

The £250,000 investment is part of a transformation of the ground floor of the Aberconway Building into a ‘student high street’.

A first port of call for our 2000-strong undergraduate community, the Hub is the gateway to student support and financial services, and administers all undergraduate coursework, student records and examinations.

Professor Kitchener, said: “The Undergraduate Hub Team performs a significant function in the journey of a Cardiff Business student, providing vital support services from enrolment to graduation...”

“This impressive new facility demonstrates our commitment to providing the very best experience for our students, to help them maximise their potential.”

The launch also sees the Hub service available bilingually for the first time after the recruitment of a Welsh-speaking administrator.

Emily Parfitt-Croydon, Undergraduate Hub Team Leader, added: “On the first day of teaching for the new academic year we saw hundreds of students walk through the hub doors.

“This is the highest we have ever seen and testament to the way our services can help students get to grips with everything that comes with studying at Cardiff Business School.”

Early 2018 will see the completion of the second phase of investment in student services. The Opportunities Zone will bring together student exchange and mobility, careers and employability, and placements support.
