Student Society Success

26 Chwefror 2013

A student-led society in the School of Psychology has been voted 'Best University Society' at the National Placement and Internship Awards.

PsyCardiff, which works with the School to feedback workplace experiences to younger students, was presented with the award at a ceremony last week.

The society finished ahead of competition from Manchester Metropolitan, Imperial College London and Oxford University to win £1000.

The prize money will be used to facilitate increased early awareness of work experience opportunities and support student exploration of the diverse careers relevant to a psychology degree.

Society President Joshua Eldridge said: "We're really pleased to be recognised for our continual commitment to supporting our students to access valuable volunteering, work experience and placement opportunities within a discipline where only 20% of graduates become professional psychologists".

This category at the annual National Placement and Internship Awards celebrates the university society who has promoted and encouraged their members to undertake some form of work experience.

Professor Edward Wilding, Head of the School of Psychology added: "This award recognises the excellent work the society does for our students and is something of which we at the School are all extremely proud".
