Plants and environmental dynamics

Plants play an integral role in the functioning of the natural environment, from regulating elements of the Earth System to determining the sensitivity of the response of landscapes to global change.  Our interdisciplinary research is developing innovative strategies for demonstrating and explaining the interactions between plants and global climate, landscape evolution, and biogeochemical cycling within Earth's terrestrial environments.  Our observations are derived from across a range of natural settings and geologic time and are guided by an appreciation of the important role of the evolving biosphere in the functioning of our planet.
