Studying geology at Cardiff was great, especially being able to tailor modules to your preference. This flexibility gave me an advantage in applying for jobs as the modules and my research were related to my preferred field of work - geophysics. The international year was a fantastic opportunity to travel whilst studying.I joined Bibby HydroMap as a ‘graduate geophysicist’ and within a year was promoted to ‘geophysicist’. I am responsible for collecting and processing sidescan, sub-bottom seismic and magnetometer data. Being on a mixed contract, I work in the office and on vessels when required. We carry out surveys for the oil and gas, offshore windfarms, subsea cables and marine aggregate industries.
