Research Centres
The School has a number of research centres, including the Centre for Research on Environment, Society and Space (CRESS), The Regeneration Institute, and the Urban China Research Centre. It is also involved in a number of interdisciplinary centres, including the Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS), the Centre for Education in the Built Environment (CEBE), the Centre for Advanced Studies (CASS) and the Centre for Local & Regional Government Research.
The Centre for Rural Environment and Society (CRES) is a major research centre based at Cardiff University, UK. It was established in 2004 to develop a growing volume of rural and environmental research within the University.
The Regeneration Institute is a joint venture initially between the School of City and Regional Planning and the School of Social Sciences, both based in the Glamorgan Building, Cardiff University. The Institute acts as a vehicle for research in area-based regeneration, embracing academic and policy-related research at both local and international levels.
Urban China Research Centre is a major research centre based in the School of City and Regional Planning at Cardiff University.
The BRASS Centre, established by the Economic and Social Research Council in October 2001.
As part of the Subject Network of the Higher Education Academy, the Centre provides discipline-based support to enhance the quality of learning and teaching in the UK Higher Education Built Environment community.
The Centre for Advanced Studies (CASS) is an inter-disciplinary, social-sciences research facility of Cardiff University. It aims to secure the resources to conduct research that is primarily inter-disciplinary, can be inter-institutional and may be international, the results of which advance both academic knowledge and practical action.
The Centre for Local and Regional Government Research (CLRGR) at Cardiff University is at the forefront of current policy developments and academic debate at local, national and international level.
