Policy & Practice Unit (PPU)

The Policy and Practice Unit acts as a service agent to the School, its research groups and the affiliated research centres, its aims are: 

 

The Glamorgan Building

To stimulate the School's active engagement with policy and practice at all levels: from working with a community council to international conferences.

To facilitate the dissemination of research undertaken with the School to inform policy and practice within Wales, the UK.

To foster new research ideas and concepts and promote the debate of academic, policy and practice issues of relevance to the School.

To interface with the professional organisations that the School serves through its taught courses - Royal Town Planning Institute, Chartered Institute of Housing, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport , Higher Education Academy and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

To actively market learning opportunities within the School and it's associated research capabilities.

 

It pursues these aims through an annual work programme of events (conferences, workshops, roundtable discussions, public lectures and seminars etc.) and support for key publications (e.g. RTPI branch newsletter).
