Helen Jones, a MSc Transport and Planning student, has won the 'Best Student Paper - Transport' Award at the recent CILT Cymru National Transport Awards.
She won with her paper on Sustainable Tourism Destination: Valleys Regional Park. This was a paper she wrote on the basis of a student group project commissioned by Welsh Assembly. The judge said this was “A useful assessment of visitor access to the Aberdulais Falls, Neath, including a direct survey of visitors and a comprehensive review of alternative transport links, extensively illustrated, with appropriate actions proposed.”
She was presented with her trophy, 'Y Ddraig' (The CILT Cymru Welsh Dragon), by a Geoff Ogden from Atkins, who sponsored this particular prize at the recent ceremony held in Cardiff.
Helen follows on from Owen Hughes, a previous MSc Transport and Planning student, who won this award last year.
