Public lecture hosted by the Innovation and Engagement Unit.
Welsh Water is unique amongst UK utilities in that it is owned by a non-shareholder company (Glas Cymru) and so all the value generated by the business is retained for the benefit of customers. Since its formation in 2001, some £200 million has been returned to Welsh customers through ‘customer dividends’, accelerated investment and social tariffs. Chris will explain how this business model came about, how it works and what are the prospects for its future.
