Professor Hugh Barton, University of the West of England
Tuesday 8th May 2012 - 5:30pm
Committee Rooms 1&2, Glamorgan Building
Public lecture hosted by the Innovation and Engagement Unit
Despite all the rhetoric about sustainable development, much new development in the UK is literally building unhealthy, inequitable and carbon-intensive conditions into the fabric of settlements. This lecture will start from the premise that the purpose of planning is to promote health and well-being. It will review the evidence linking place and health, and show examples of inspirational urban planning.
