The economic crises in Europe and the Eurozone have been deeper and longer than either politicians or economists anticipated. While generic rules for fiscal discipline and austerity measures have dominated recent policy debate, in fact more targeted economic, political and institutional reforms are needed, both nationally and within the EU.
