CPLAN Analyse University Travel Survey

In a novel initiative that brought students, staff and a University Division (Campus Services) together, the School produced an up-to-date analysis of University travel behaviour and associated carbon emissions.

From left to right: Owen Thomas, Lucy Baker and Adam CornishMasters students Lucy Baker and Owen Thomas with support from Adam Cornish, a BSc Geography and Planning graduate, recently presented the analysis results and recommendations to University’s senior managers.  The presentations were of an outstanding quality and further stimulated lively discussion with respect to what needs to be done to encourage staff and students to cycle and/or walk to University, including the issues of parking-permit allocation and facilities improvements.

Dimitris Potoglou put together the overall programme, combining two funding streams and involving, as co-supervisors, Shin Lee and Scott Orford. High quality MSc dissertations were but one of the several outcomes of the initiative.
