The Relief Series

The Relief Series is a new online multimedia programme available to all students and staff at Cardiff University. It offers self-help tools to identify, motivate and educate you around common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, insomnia and stress.

The programme is available at any time – where you have access to a computer with Internet access - and lets you work through the assessments in privacy. Through the interactive assessments you will be able to identify your personal profile, set targets and track progress. In all of the programmes you will find illustrative examples of problems and possible solutions presented through flash movie animations.

What’s in The Relief Series?

The programme uses cognitive behavioural techniques, practical exercises and other self-help tools and strategies, to help you understand, address and relieve:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Insomnia relief

Getting Started

To start the using the programme, you need to visit The Relief Series Website and register as a new user. You’ll need an Activation Code when registering - this is: cardiffcounselling (all one word, all lowercase characters).

To use the programme you will need a computer with a sound card and Internet access. You will also need a printer if you wish to print out exercises and reports.

Who can use it?

The Relief Series is available to all staff and students at Cardiff University. It is suitable for people with mild forms of depression. This may be characterised as "feeling down" or "feeling low". If you believe your symptoms are more severe, or you have been diagnosed with more acute forms of depression, you may wish to consult your doctor who can discuss more suitable options with you.

Is it confidential?

The material is being made available to all students and staff at Cardiff University by the Counselling Service. We will not receive any feedback about individuals who access the service, nor any information about problems that you enter into the programme. We only receive general demographic information (age, gender, etc) based on the information you provide during registration.
