Vicky Groves, Student Counselling Manager
How I work
I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I adapt my approach to fit client needs and introduce Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for many client issues.
EMDR helps clients process distressing thoughts. The eye movements appear to help the brain to do this processing in much the same way as they help process the day's experiences during sleep (REM). Originally developed to help process traumatic memories, this approach is now utilised for many client difficulties.
Areas of interest
My main interests and expertise lies in anxiety/trauma, self-esteem and eating disorders.
