A centre of excellence for software engineering in Wales.

The National Software Academy was established in 2015 as a partnership between Cardiff University, the Welsh Government and industry leaders. Its aim is to address the shortfall of qualified, industry-ready software engineers, by producing sought after graduates with industrial experience who will be recognised as leaders in their field.

The Academy offers an innovative undergraduate degree in Applied Software Engineering with a focus on the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience required to be immediately effective as a commercial software engineer.  The Academy also offers an MSc in Software Engineering designed for graduates from diverse backgrounds who have some prior experience of programming to gain the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience to be effective as a commercial software engineer.

Key features of the Academy include a focus on industry working practices, a vibrant working environment and a focus on 'real world' challenges.

Its vision is to deliver industry-focused degrees in software engineering aimed at providing students with academic experience of relevant and leading-edge technologies delivered within an industrial framework, utilising industry-proven tools and techniques to facilitate transition into the job market.
