Proteomics Facility
Use:
The Proteomics facility has recently benefitted from generous support through SRIF3. We offer state of the art facilities for the protein and peptide seperation, the identification of proteins on a global sacle, the analysis of individual proteins and the characterisation of protein-protein interactions.
The facility presently offers the following resources for:
1D/2D electrophoresis (GE Healthcare Ettan IPGPhor, DALT VI and multiphor systems, Invitrogen mini-gel system)
Gel scanning and analysis (GE ImageScanner and Nonliner Dynamics Phoretix 2D Expression Software)
2D fluorescence difference gel electrophoresis (DIGE; GE Typhoon Trio varible mode imager and DeCyder 2D Version 6.5 software)
Free flow electrophoresis (BD diagnostics)
Lab-on-a-chip microfluidics-based protein electrophoresis and quantification (Agilent 2100 Bioanalyser)
Automated spot picking (Ettan Spot Picker) and in-gel trypsin digestion (Ettan digester)
State-of-the-art tandem mass spectrometry (MS; Applied Viosystems 4800 MALDI TOF/TOF Analyser, Global Proteom Explorer and Protein Pilot workstation, MarkerView software and MASCOT ite licence).
Nano-liquid chromatography (nanoLC; Dionex Ultimate 3000, Probot Spotter and Chromeleon software) for advanced proteomics workflows (geLC-MS, MDLC-MS and quantative proteomics using reagents such as iTRAQ, ICAT and SILAC)
Two solutions for surface plasmon resonance (SPR; Biacore T100 and 3000 work station )to study protein-protein (or other macromolecular) interactions (with MALDI target plate spotting facility).
Protein purification and production systems (Acta FPLC, Beckman HPLC and small scale fermentor
