Cytokines and inflammations in tissue damage and repair: Infection, inflammation and tissue repair are largely mediated by cytokines. Cytokines play pivotal role to control disease outcome by regulation of innate immunity and adaptive immunity. My research has been focused on studying the role of cytokines of IL-15, IL-18 in infection and inflammation. I have been taking advantage of modem molecular immunology techniques by creating cytokine transgenic and knockout mice. I have been also using molecular engineer to construct murine and human cytokines and soluble cytokine receptors. The reagents created from my research have allowed us to study the function of these cytokines in vitro and in vivo.
