Research Expertise relevant to tissue engineering & repair:
The management of soft tissue injuries in animals. Very little research has been done to investigate the cellular activity involved with the healing of wounds in different animal species. Assumptions have been made that the process is comparable with that of human soft tissue injury repair but there is little or no evidence to support this. As Editorial Advisory Board Member of WOUNDS (HMP Communications) and a past Secretary of the Veterinary Wound Healing Association, I am in contact with veterinary surgeons practising in Europe and the United States who have an active interest in progressing this neglected area as well as evaluating some of the wound management materials available to manage human soft tissue injuries when used in a veterinary context.
