Lycopodium alkaloids possess a range of interesting and useful biological activity, as well as having complex and challenging molecular architectures. For example, lycoposerramine A (1) has five rings and six stereogenic centres, all in close proximity. It is also the only natural product which contains an oxadiazolidinone ring. We have recently reported synthetic efforts towards this compound, and also the simpler natural product, lycoposerramine S (2). This project is concerned with a continuation of these studies aimed at completing the total synthesis of these important targets.
