Postgraduate Success at National Meeting

Kevin Jones from the School of Chemistry has won first prize in the SCI Fine Chemicals Group 21st “Graduate Symposia for novel organic chemistry”. The event saw final year postgraduate students from 23 universities around the UK selected to compete for prizes, covering a diverse range of chemistry: from natural product and asymmetric synthesis, through to macromolecular and medicinal chemistry.
Kevin undertook his PhD studies in the group of Dr Nick Tomkinson, successfully developing a conceptually novel method for alkene functionalisation, addressing important environmental and sustainability issues.
He has now completed his PhD studies has accepted a Post Doctoral position in the Internationally renowned Max-Plank Institute, Mulheim working with Professor Martin Klussmann.
