Chemical Society of France Award

11 July 2011

Professor Graham Hutchings has been awarded The Chemical Society of France (SCF) 2011 SCF French-British Prize in recognition of "his outstanding work in catalysis in a career in both industrial and academic, and his collaborations with many highly regarded in the French community." This prize is awarded every two years in association with
the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Two areas of Professor Hutchings' work were highlighted, the gold-catalysis work which has been widely recognised, and also seminal work on vanadium phosphates, much of which was carried out in collaboration with Jean Claude Volta (CNRS Catalysis Centre, Lyon) between 1992 and 2004. Both areas of research have been published in high-impact chemistry journals, including 'Nature' and 'Science'.
