Research Interests
My research interests encompass the application of materials chemistry, surface modification and analysis to the development of new heterogeneous catalysts for use in pollution abatement and cleaner synthesis. I am particularly interested in the designing alternative clean chemical technologies for the use of renewable resources as both chemical feedstocks and fuels, and have an active research program developing new templated porous catalyst systems for the synthesis of biofuels. My research also focuses on understanding surface reaction mechanisms using a combination of model ultra-high vacuum and practical catalytic systems to derive fundamental insight into catalyst operation.
