Meet Amina Shabaan
Name: Mrs. Amina Shabaan
Position/Job Title: Muslim Chaplain at Cardiff University.
Responsibilities: I am proud to be appointed as the first Muslim female Chaplain to Cardiff University. I have worked as an arabic teacher at Cardiff University since 2006. I also work as a Quran and Tajweed teacher with the Islamic society and in many places around Cardiff. I provide one to one and group support for many students with different backgrounds, along with students who practice other religions or those of no specific faith which allows me to understand more about others and improves the way I support them. In addition to my role as a teacher and a chaplain, I like to learn about different cultures as the City of Cardiff is multicultural and diverse. I provide spiritual support to the students of the University as well as staff.
Experience: I have been working with the Muslim community of Cardiff since 2001. I have taught them Arabic, Quran and Tajweed. I have provided support in Nur Al-Islam mosque, Dar Ul-Isra mosque, Butetowne Islamic Centre, Al-Manaar centre and Bengali centre. I hold a certificate in the Training of Muslim Chaplain from Markfield Institution of Higher Education. I am a qualified Quran examiner and I hold an EJAAZAH from Egypt allowing me to do so. I attend university hospital of Wales when required. I volunteer at Islamic Social Support Association Wales (ISSA-Wales) as a Muslim Chaplain.
