Dr Tom Davies
BSc (hons) and PhD University of Wales, Cardiff (2000-2006, S.H. Taylor. The Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Propane using Metal Oxides). Postdoctoral Research Fellow 2007 – present, (G. J. Hutchings: Supercritical synthesis of nanomaterials for green catalysts, novel materials for Fischer Tropsch catalysis)
Tom's research interests include:
- The development and synthesis of novel nano-materials and mixed-metal oxides using supercritical antisolvent precipitations
- Fischer Tropsch chemistry and the synthesis of higher alcohols from syngas
- Study of the selective oxidation and oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes to higher value intermediates
Other interests include the study of trioxide mineral cements (MTA) by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD; collaboration with the School of dentistry).
