Tom's research interests include:

  • The development and synthesis of novel nano-materials and mixed-metal oxides using supercritical antisolvent precipitations
  • Fischer Tropsch chemistry and the synthesis of higher alcohols from syngas
  • Study of the selective oxidation and oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes to higher value intermediates

Other interests include the study of trioxide mineral cements (MTA) by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD; collaboration with the School of dentistry).
