Dr. Muhammad Hasnain Haider
Dr. Haider is a front line experimentalist who is interested in applied based research in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. This includes the designing, preparation and further evaluation of catalysts. Catalyst designing involves the study of catalyst characteristics through numerous techniques (like BET, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, TPD/R/O, SEM, TGA, AAS, XPS etc.) to help understand the features of catalytic material for better activity/selectivity towards the required reaction. Post reaction product analysis through analytical techniques like GC, HPLC, NMR, GC-MS, LC-MS by adopting different methodologies required for different compounds are used for in-depth studies of various products arising out of catalytic reactions . Designing of controlled experiments for the mechanistic studies is also accompanied in order to explore reaction step by step role of catalyst. The basic theme is to think non-traditionally in the field of heterogeneous catalysis research.
Master & Mphil. (Industrial chemistry) from G.C. University, Lahore, Pakistan. Ph.D. Heterogeneous Catalysis from Cardiff Catalysis Institute, Cardiff University.
Economic & next generation heterogeneous catalysis, industrial catalysis, alternative fuels, renewable fuels, petrochemicals etc., polyoxometalate materials, acid catalysts like alumina, silica, zirconia etc. and base catalysis including alkali metals, alkaline and rare earth metals etc.
