Vision
To be ranked in the top five university Careers Services in the UK by 2012.
Progress towards this goal will be measured by:
- External evaluation provided by organisations such as ‘High Flyers’ and AGR.
- Increased usage of the Service by all client groups.
- Increased use of ICT to widen access to the services provided.
- Benchmarking against other Russell Group institutions.
- Increasing year on year the income generated from employer-facing and other services.
- Keeping abreast of national developments to ensure that services reflect best practice.
- Exceeding targets set for the Service, both internally and by external organisations.
- Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Continuing to secure external funding to supplement core University finance.
Mission
In support of the University's mission, the Careers Service will be proactive, responsive and innovative in the way we deal with the needs and aspirations of all its students and graduates, as well as employers and the University, in the fields of careers education, information, advice and guidance, recruitment, work experience and training.
Values
The work of the Careers Service reflects our values to:
- Offer services of a high professional standard, focussed on client need.
- Seek to continuously improve the services offered to our clients and their efficient delivery.
- Maintain impartiality to help students and graduates make informed choices about their future and to achieve their maximum potential.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University as well as with students, graduates and employers in an open, responsive way.
- Foster good working relations both within the Service as well externally.
- Support all staff in their professional development and to contribute towards goals set for the Service, Directorate and University.
