Jayne Dowden

As Director of HRSHE I am responsible for wide range of matters related to people working and studying at the University. These include recruitment, employment advice, training and development, health, safety and a positive working environment.

The Cardiff People programme will deliver on many aspects of Cardiff Futures. As initiator and champion of the Cardiff People programme and I have worked with colleagues from across the University to develop the vision for and scope of this Programme.  I work closely with the Programme Manager, to whom I provide expertise and guidance.  Acting as the link between the Programme, business areas and management decision making I also act as an arbitrator and make key organisational and commercial decisions.

Caroline Mackenzie

The day to day management of the Cardiff People Programme is my responsibility.  I work closely with the Programme Sponsor, the Functional and Technical Leads, stakeholders across the University and third party suppliers bringing their work together and directing operations.  I make sure everything happens when it’s supposed to and manage important documents like the plan and the budget.

Helen Mullens

Coming from the Advisory team, I've been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work as a HR Manager and, more latterly, to be involved in a number of HR projects which have had University wide implications.  This and my work with the Shared Services and IT teams have helped me to develop strong working relationships with colleagues in Schools and Directorates and help broaden my perspective on how HR's work affects people across the University.

On the Cardiff People Programme I will act as functional lead for HR and will be working with the project teams to ensure that both the E-Recruitment and HR/Payroll systems meet the functional requirements for the University and for HR.  I'll challenge our existing working practices and ensure that they are fit for purpose and based on best practice wherever possible.  I can't wait to get these systems in and start working with them and am genuinely worried by how excited I've become over IT!

Sian Williams

I am Head of Salaries and Pensions and will take the Functional Lead role for these areas on the Cardiff People Programme.

I will be responsible for the data interfaces between Payroll, Pensions, Oracle General Ledger and Human Resources.  My role will include the setup of the payroll rules, testing and parallel running and the training of the Payroll and Pensions teams.

Karl Jones

My role within the Programme is to lead and manage the technical workstream which will be expected to provide solutions to technical issues.   I will be responsible for meeting technical development schedules and for ensuring the delivered solution conforms to the technical specifications and design requirements.

Previous to being seconded to the Cardiff People programme I led the SIMS support team within Information Services

Cath Hancock

I am a Training and Development Manager and work as part of the Organisational and Staff Development Team in Human Resources.  My main responsibilities in this role are the design and delivery of learning and development activities (specialising in leadership and management development, performance management and recruitment & selection) and the Management of the one year probation processes across the University.  I will lead on the development and implementation of the learning, development and training, and the performance management workstreams of the Cardiff People Programme

 Karen Cooke

I am currently an Organisational Development Manager in HRSHE which involves working with Schools and Directorates on improving how they support and develop their people.  This has primarily been through the project management of the University achieving Investors in People and working with other colleagues from across the University in developing our leadership and management activities.

My role in the Cardiff People project is to continue to work with staff across the organisation on business change and to ensure that we are ready to get the most out of our new systems.

 Matt Smith

I have worked for Cardiff University for 13 years in Human Resources and support and developed Compel (current HR system) and Business Objects (University Reporting system) to produce management information both internally and externally. I have also worked on the HR module of Cyborg (current payroll system) at University of Wales College of Medicine.

I am looking forward to putting to use all the experience I have gained and working with the Schools and Directorates to bring in a system that will live up to and push forward the expectations of the University.

Caitriana Arnold

My responsibilities include Salaries and Pensions and Endowments and Investments.  My involvement in the Cardiff People Programme will be as the Process Owner for the payroll and pensions areas including the interface of payroll data into Oracle EBS.  As Process Owner, I will have oversight of the set up, testing and implementation of the payroll.

Jan Morgan

I've been working at Cardiff University (and before merger at the College of Medicine) since 2002, primarily in technical support of the HR and Finance systems. I have several years software development experience and was part of the team that developed the HR Business Objects reports used widely throughout the university. My role on the project will be to provide technical support during the implementation of Cardiff People.

Cath Hall

My role within the Cardiff People Programme team is to assist my colleagues and system users across the University. My duties include supporting a wide range of programme-related activities such as system testing, end user training, Welsh language translation, communications and general admin support.  I have been seconded from the Shared Services Team in the Human Resources Directorate, where I usually work as an HR Administrator providing first-line support to Schools and Directorates with recruitment, contract-related and other employment matters.

I have greatly enjoyed being part of the team responsible for implementing eRecruitment. I am now looking forward to continuing working on the Core integrated HR & Payroll system and to put my experience in HR into practice again to support the implementation in any way I can.
