Communications and International Relations Division
The Communications and International Relations Division plays an important support role in building and maintaining the reputation of the University through effective communications with stakeholders and is responsible for co-ordinating the University’s activities overseas and for promoting the University to world, UK and internal audiences. This includes attracting and supporting overseas students, maintaining Cardiff University’s reputation for world-leading teaching and research, and engaging international, national and local communities with the University’s work.
The Division is organised into several areas:
- The International Office provides central support to Schools in the recruitment of full-fee paying postgraduate and undergraduate international students, (i.e. students from outside the E.U.) and also ensures that support services are in place for more than 3,000 international students.
- The English Language Programmes section is a self-financing teaching section of the Division, which delivers a suite of high quality International Foundation and English Language programmes for onward progression to University courses. It also houses an IELTS Test Centre.
- The Public Relations team is responsible for managing the reputation of the University and for communicating its achievements, aspirations and other information to internal and external stakeholders world-wide.
- The Community Engagement Team works closely with academic staff to disseminate effectively the University's research and knowledge to increase public awareness of and engagement with Cardiff's academic specialisms and expertise.
The Communications and International Relations Division is headed up by Director, Sandra Elliott. She is supported by; Richard Cotton, Director of International Office, Helen Evans, Deputy Director & Head of English Language and Foundation Programmes and Karen O’Shea, Deputy Director & Head of Public Relations.
