Principal research interests: the relationships between key life-history traits of insects (parasitoids, moths, butterflies): the timing of reproduction, life-span, resource allocation strategy, resource acquisition strategy (feeding habit), body size and mouthpart structure. Techniques employed: comparative analysis (with Peter Ferns) and stochastic dynamic programming (with Carlos Bernstein). Overall aim: to identify the factors that shape the evolution and diversity of insect life-histories.
