Research Overview
I am interested in cellular calcium homeostasis and the way calcium plays a role in cell function. Calcium can cross cell membranes via transporters and channels: my research has involved looking at aspects of both of these, the Na/Ca exchange and voltage-sensitive Ca channels. To study in these areas I used techniques such as electrophysiological recordings (eg patch clamping), and radioisotope fluxes (eg 45Ca).
