My PhD research focuses on fish parasites and their treatment in the ornamental and fish farming industry. My aim is to combine studies on parasite reproductive behaviour, transmission and virulence as well as fish behaviour to understand the interactions within host-parasite systems and the impact of treatments on host-parasite population dynamics. This can be of direct use to fisheries and aquarium management, increasing fish welfare by improving management strategies with implementing methods to prevent disease transmission through an increased understanding of host and parasite behaviour.
