Miss Maria Joana Ferreira Da Silva
I am a molecular ecologist/primatologist interested in the Guinea Baboon (Papio hamadryas papio) conservation status, population dynamics and socio-ecology. During my PhD at Cardiff University, I will focus on understanding the anthropogenic pressure (habitat loss, excessive hunting and pet trade) on the genetic diversity of the Guinea-Bissau populations. In addition, I will examine the relationship between social organization, habitat, relatedness and dispersal within social groups.
