Guidance on the Design and Structure of Taught Programmes of Study
This document sets out a framework within which taught programmes across the University should be designed, reviewed and managed. It includes a mixture of guidance and good practice, and sets out the University’s expectations in relation to:

The structure of taught programmes;

The size and shape of modules within taught programmes, and;

The management of progression within taught program.
Guidance on the nature and volume of assessment
Guidance for staff across the University involved in taught programmes of study, which has been designed:

To help schools develop a better balance between formative and summative assessment;

To assist schools in reducing the volume of summative assessment;

To help staff introduce a wider variety of suitable assessment methods within programmes of study; and
-
To improve the alignment between teaching, learning and assessment.
Credit Levels and the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW)
Information on the levels defined in the Welsh government’s Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales (CQFW), and on the changes being made to programme descriptions to adopt this framework.
