The proposed live project studio will expose students to the care and work required to designing small public spaces in the city. We will look to have the students produce alternatives that will test the brief issued by the Client through careful drawing, photography and model making.
We propose the students will also take a trip to London to visit a list of small public places of interest, experiencing and reviewing their relevance. As a walking tutorial, this part of the studio is seen as key to establishing a way of ‘reading’ urban situations and conditions.
Key points of the live brief provided are as follows:
* to add to the growth of cultural tourism in the centre
* to investigate the possibility of a collective ‘green space’
* to make a positive and long lasting addition to the City Centre public realm
