  • The Low Carbon Research Institute's Convergence Energy Programme is a Welsh European funded Innovation Research & Development programme. The programme aims to achieve longer-term economic growth and job creation through providing a strategic steer and coordinated approach for interdisciplinary industrial energy research in Wales, through the LCRI. The low carbon energy technologies being developed through the LCRI Convergence Programme have the potential to create a long term economic impact for Wales, in addition to the immediate benefits for the energy sectors.
  • Working as part of the LCRI Management Team, the successful candidate for this role will use his/her experience in the energy sector to publicise the work of the Programme. He/she will develop strong working relationships within each of the LCRI sub-projects and will have the necessary written communication skills to promote the work being undertaken by the Programme and its impact on the Convergence areas of Wales.

  • The BEST Programme is funded by the Welsh European Funding Office under European Social Funding. The aim of this Programme is to develop and pilot strategic training to support people working with the sustainable energy and built environment sectors e.g. architects, engineers, craftspeople and skilled workers. The Programme will support the development of the existing workforce through the development of evidenced training, and will enable the delivery of the Welsh Governments aspirations towards sustainable development.
  • The main function of the post is to deliver Equality & Diversity interventions / business support to eligible organisations within the Convergence area of Wales. Utilising existing processes and templates, the post holder will be responsible for the recruitment and support of organisations. There is the need to meet specific funding requirements and targets, but there is also the opportunity to develop the work within the organisations to bring about a positive and sustained change.
  • This post will be based in Cardiff, but is anticipated to involve considerable travel across Wales.

PhD level research opportunity

Dr. Wassim Jabi, Senior Lecturer at the Welsh School of Architecture has recently secured a grant to purchase a Kuka KR60 HA (High Accuracy) robot to investigate advanced manufacturing techniques in architecture. He is also collaborating with a large international design firm and a large cement manufacturer on a research proposal to study the potential of robotic manufacturing methods in architecture.
