Currently on secondment to Research, Enterprise and Innovation Services, Cardiff University, as a European Officer. Debbie provides specialist support to assist academic staff across Cardiff University's academic schools and colleges in the preparation of applications for European grants and to assist the current European Office staff in all aspects of EU funding programmes, especially the EC's 7th Framework Programme (FP7) and its successor, Horizon 2020.

During this secondment, Debbie still plays a role in the Welsh School of Architecture, providing strategic support and assistance with the development and submission of external bids for research funding for the School.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Manager of 2 European Projects (LCBE, SBED) funded by WEFO.
  • Provide strategic support and lead with the development and submission of external bids for research funding for the School (i.e. Structural Funds, Horizon 2020)
  • Manage, co-ordinate and write research proposals for the School, developing a collaborative approach in the submission of proposals
  • Sourcing, developing, costing and submitting key collaborative Expressions of Interest, Tenders and Proposals for further funding
  • To monitor performance against set targets and ensure quality of output.
  • To prepare progress reports for the funding bodies and the University Structural Funds Panel
  • To represent the research projects and the School at national and international events
