Professor Richard Weston

Richard Weston is fascinated by 'the nature of materials' and this is manifest in two strands of work: firstly, exploring ways of using data captured from natural materials – minerals and rocks, fossils and plants – with digital design and manufacturing techniques to create architectural, interior and fashion products that combine a classical sense of form (no blobs) with what Ruskin described as 'a determined variation in arrangement, which is exactly like the related proportions and provisions in the structure of organic form'; and secondly, collaborating with engineers to create expressive forms by pushing materials to their structural limits.
