Andrew’s research largely focuses on the practice of teaching architecture. It looks at how teachers of architecture can help students to develop the necessary abilities to become creative practitioners in their own right. Pedagogic research of this type provides an opportunity to reflect critically upon the practice of teaching and learning architecture.
Action Research is a common form of practice based research, where researchers attempt to gain a reflective understanding of some action that has been undertaken, in this case in their own teaching. In doing so they can uncover what motivates students, how they learn and how they respond to specific teaching situations.
